Location:
Shey-Phoksundo National Park is situated in the mountain region of western Nepal (best reached from Kathmandu by a flight to Juphal 420kms followed by a few hours trek). The region covers parts of Dolpa and the Mugu District and is the largest National Park in the country.

Feature:
The park contains dense forests mainly comprised of blue pine, spruce, cypress, poplar, deodar, fir, birch and qurercus. The trans-Himalayan area of the park has near-desert type vegetation of dwarf juniper and caragana shrubs.

The park provides prime habitat for snow leopard and blue sheep, other more common animals found here are: goral, Himalayan tahr, serow, leopard, wolf, jackal, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan weasel, Himalayan mouse hare, yellow-throated marten, langur and rhesus monkeys. The park is rich in birdlife with many varieties recorded, aimpeyan pheasant (Danphe), blood pheasant, cheer pheasant, red and yellow billed cough, raven, jungle crow, snow partridge, many other bird species are resident to the park.
