Location:
Parsa Wildlife Reserve occupies parts of Chitwan, Makawanpur, Parsa and Bara Districts in the central Terai of Nepal. The reserve headquarters is situated at Adabar on the Hetauda-Birgunj highway. (reached by a flight to Simara then 30 mins by jeep)

Features:
The area lies east to west. The reserve has sub-tropical forest with Sal fcovering 90% of the total area. Chir pine , Khair, Sissoo and the Silk cotton tree are found in the Churia hills. Sabai grass is prevalent at the end of the monsoon growing to an altitude of up to 5 mtrs, it is used by local people to make roofs and also as fodder for livestock..

The reserve supports a good population of resident wild elephant, it is also a habitat for tiger, leopard, sloth bear, gaur, blue bull, and wild dog. Other more common animals found are sambar, chital, hog deer, barking deer, languor monkey, striped hyena, ratel, palm civet and jungle cat.

300 species of birds have been recorded including giant hornbill, peafowl, red jungle fowl, flycatchers and woodpeckers.

Due to the hot tropical climate,many kinds of snakes including king cobra, common cobra, krait, rat snake and python also live here.
