Annapurna Trekking

The Dolpo region was opened in 1989 with the Shey Phoksundo National Park, established in 1984 to preserve a large portion of the land in the area. It is extremely impressive, with many passes over 5000 metres. The region maintains a strong cultural Buddhist tradition with most inhabitants speaking the Tibetan language. Many still follow the ancient religion of Bon an ancient animistic faith that pre dates Buddhism. They survive by growing buckwheat and barley and tend to large herds of goats, sheep, yak etc. The shining Ringmo Lake, with its clear turquoise blue water, makes a trip to this region an unforgettable experience
