Shivapuri is is a protected zone situated on the northern rim of the Kathmandu valley, the streams that eminate from here provide fresh drinking water for a major portion of the valleys inhabitants. At 2,732 metres there is a spectacular view of the Kathmandu valley. Much of the trek is through undisturbed thick oak forest, If you are lucky you may come accross spotted dear, monkeys and jackals on the trail.You can see the panaromic macief views of Langtang Lirung
It is a little trek that takes you beyond the rim of Kathmandu Valley through Sundarijal and into the hills to the north, then east to Nagarkot and then back to Kathmandu or you can also go to Changu Narayan (World Heritage site) from Nagarkot and then walk down to the Sankhu and take a bus or taxi to Kathmandu.
